Google has added a couple of new features to their Gemini AI chatbot called Canvas and Audio Overviews. In a blog post, the company said that Canvas will provide Gemini users can use Canvas for an interactive workspace to create and edit documents while coding in real-time.
“Need to update specific sections or entire drafts? Easily adjust the tone, length or formatting with quick editing tools,” Dave Citron, Senior Director, Product Management at Gemini noted. “For example, highlight a paragraph and ask Gemini to make it more concise, professional or informal. Whether you’re crafting a speech, need help revising an essay, a blog post or a report, Canvas can help you maximize your creative output,” he said.
Meanwhile, Audio Overview can be used to convert text like documents and slides into an AI-generated podcast. The tool was initially introduced in Google’s NotebookLM. The podcast features a couple of AI-generated hosts who discuss the material in a natural manner.
However, the feature is currently available only in English with plans to expand language support soon.
OpenAI and Anthropic already have notably similar features called Canvas and Projects respectively.
The features were rolled out globally for Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers.
