Microsoft will be rolling out a preview of their final version of Recall, the AI feature from Copilot Plus that takes screenshots of all the tasks that a user does. In a blog post published by the company, Microsoft said that the preview will be rolled out to Windows Insiders and then launched more widely.
“As you use your Copilot+ PC throughout the day working on documents or presentations, taking video calls, and context switching across activities, Recall will take regular snapshots and help you find things faster and easier. When you need to find or get back to something you’ve done previously, open Recall and authenticate with Windows Hello,” the blog noted.
The feature was initially announced at the Copilot Plus PCs event in June last year but grabbed the attention of security experts who expressed concerns. Since then, the feature has been delayed while Microsoft said they will make changes to the feature to make it more secure.
According to the blog post, users can opt-in for the feature to save certain snapshots and then enrol in Windows Hello to confirm themselves so just the user can access the snapshots. Users can also control what snapshots are saved and pause the feature at any point.
