Asus recently impressed with the Zenbook A14, a laptop that stood out for its balance of portability and performance. Now, the Asus’s Vivobook S 14 OLED enters the scene, following the same trend. Marketed as a Copilot+ PC with AI features and a slim design, it comes with Intel’s latest Series 2 processor and an OLED display. Let’s see if it meets the mark set by its predecessor.
The Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED measures 1.39 cm thick and weighs 1.3 kg, making it easy to carry. Its all-metal chassis includes a CNC-engraved Vivobook logo, giving it a clean, professional look. The build feels solid despite being lightweight, designed for practical use rather than just appearance. It’s a laptop that fits well into daily routines without much fuss.
It meets US MIL-STD 810H standards, meaning it can handle drops, vibrations, and tough conditions. The metal body adds durability, ensuring it holds up over time. This focus on resilience makes it suitable for users who need a device that lasts through regular travel or work demands. It’s built to endure without drawing attention to its toughness.
Port options include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two Thunderbolt 4, an HDMI 2.1 TMDS, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader. This selection covers most needs—data transfer, external displays, or charging—without requiring extra adapters. The design prioritizes utility, offering connectivity in a compact form.

The 14-inch Asus Lumina OLED display has a 1920x1200 WUXGA resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its three-sided NanoEdge design provides an 87% screen-to-body ratio, fitting more screen into a smaller frame. With 600 nits peak brightness and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, it handles bright and dark scenes well, useful for work or media.

It covers 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, which is accurate for tasks like photo editing. The 60 Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth for general use, and the OLED panel reduces blue light, easing eye strain during long sessions. It’s a functional display that performs reliably across different activities.
The ErgoSense keyboard offers 1.7 mm key travel, making typing soft and quiet. It includes single-zone RGB backlighting and a dedicated Copilot key for quick AI access. The layout supports extended use without causing discomfort, fitting both work and casual needs.
The 129 x 84 mm ErgoSense touchpad sits centered, providing a palm rest for typing. It responds well with Asus Smart Gestures, like multi-finger swipes, and has an anti-fingerprint coating to stay clean. It’s positioned and sized for practical navigation.
The FHD IR camera includes Asus AI features like noise reduction and supports Windows Hello for secure logins. Windows Studio Effects, such as background blur, improve video calls, and a privacy shutter adds control. It’s a straightforward tool that works well for remote meetings or quick logins.
The Intel Core Ultra 7-256V (Series 2) processor runs at up to 4.8 GHz with 8 cores and 8 threads. Paired with Intel Arc Graphics 140V and a 47 TOPS NPU, it manages AI tasks and multitasking. The Asus IceCool system with dual fans keeps heat under control during regular use.
It has 16 GB LPDDR5X 8533 MHz RAM and a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, providing fast load times and storage access. The NPU supports AI functions like voice recognition, though its full potential depends on software updates. The hardware setup suits most productivity and creative tasks.
During testing, the laptop occasionally froze, interrupting workflow. These moments were infrequent but noticeable, requiring restarts. While generally smooth, this issue suggests room for refinement in stability under heavier loads.
Windows 11 Home runs the Vivobook, with Copilot offering help for tasks like writing or organising. Windows Studio Effects enhance calls with features like noise suppression. It’s a standard OS setup, with promised Copilot+ PC updates to expand features over time.
Asus adds StoryCube for media organisation and AI noise-cancelling for clearer audio. The Microsoft Pluton chip and Passkeys improve security. These extras provide practical benefits, though some AI capabilities are still pending broader implementation.
The dual speakers use Smart Amplifier technology and Dolby Atmos certification, tuned by Harman Kardon. They produce clear sound for music or calls, though the internal placement limits volume. It’s adequate for a laptop of this size.
The laptop comes with a 75 Wh battery power. During our review period the laptop lasted 8 hours comfortably, covering a full day of work or media use. It handles extended sessions without needing a recharge, suited for users who stay mobile.
Asus has also integrated fast charging with a 65 W USB-C adapter, allowing the laptop to charge quickly. Additionally, Asus USB-C Easy Charge ensures compatibility with portable chargers, power banks, and even airline chargers, making it a great travel companion.
Starting at ₹99,990, the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED competes closely in its own company lineup with the Zenbook A14. It offers a light build, solid performance, and a capable display, though minor freezes hold it back from being seamless. For users needing portability and decent power, it’s a reasonable pick.
The laptop delivers on key areas—battery life, screen quality, and design—making it suitable for professionals or students. It doesn’t match the Zenbook’s polish but provides enough to justify consideration. If stability improves, it could stand out more confidently.
