The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Bengaluru-based GenAI startup, Sarvam AI to offer voice support in Aadhar services. Starting from March 18, Sarvam will deploy AI-powered voice-based interactions for resident-centric use cases.
The agreement is initially valid for a year and could be extended by another year, a press statement stated.
The AI will gather feedback on enrollment and update processes, while identifying cases of overcharging by service providers. Additionally, the solution will send real-time fraud alerts to Aadhaar number holders in case of any suspicious activity during authentication requests.
The voice and fraud detection services will cover 10 Indian languages including Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi and Malayalam. These language options will be expanded soon.
“UIDAI is a people centric organization. GenAI is the next technology evolution in UIDAI’s journey as a technology pioneer, building on our long-standing commitment to innovation for facilitating ease of living,” said Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO, UIDAI.
“We are privileged to collaborate with UIDAI. This engagement exemplifies the immense potential of AI to drive public good,” said Vivek Raghavan, Co-Founder of Sarvam AI.
The solution will be fully owned by UIDAI with data remaining within their environment at all steps to ensure security.
Last month, founders of Sarvam AI had said that they will submit a proposal to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to build foundational AI models under the IndiaAI mission.
